Description

I did this project back in October, I believe. "Courage" was the prompt our art teacher gave us; Glenn Beck was speaking as a fundraiser for the school I go to, and my teacher wanted there to be a courage-themed art gallery in the lobby of the center where Beck was speaking. You know, to coincide with his speech's theme, and to get our art program out there.

So after much fretting and worrying about how to interpret that obscure prompt, I decided on something that I struggled with--accepting the fact that I was different from the rest of the world, and that I was going to be judged. The center figure is, in essence, what would happen if you took myself and all of the strong, beautiful girls I see on a daily basis, threw us in a blender, and baked the mush in a human-shaped mold.

I could go into a long, drawn-out story about why the girl in the center figure represents me and all the other girls in my life, but I think I'll spare you that bore. For the cookie-cutter-copy girls in the background, I used a stencil to get their basic head shapes right. I did the same thing for the center girl, as well. The second row of purple girls was added per request of my teacher.

Acrylic and Sharpie on 18x24 canvas.

Nice. Kind of reminds me of "Where's Waldo?" pictures. Unique style, and I mean that in a good way. XD
